Rob Wyndham from The Wall Doctor took our phone call promptly and scheduled an appointment to give us a bid after doing a brief phone consult with my husband to assess the job. Rob arrived on-time and was able to answer all our questions and concerns regarding our kitchen project. He submitted an clear, in-depth job estimate (cost, time, and materials) via email the next day. We knew the job would take about 6 hours and were able to schedule it on a day that worked for us within 1.5 weeks of getting the job estimate. Carlos and Nicholas (The Wall Doctor construction employees) arrived right on time and never slowed down. They were polite, professional and careful with our home. Even better, they were very skilled and did an amazing job!! The end result is exactly what we hoped for and we are loving our newly updated kitchen exhaust system. We plan to use The Wall Doctor again for an update to our bathroom next year.

This company was a lifesaver and as luck would have it, were able come the next day and fix the damage done to the drywall after a kitchen demolition. Todd did go beyond the scope of the work requested/needed since large parts of the wall were to be covered by cabinets, but he did a great job. We are in a condo and I was very impressed with how thoroughly Todd cleaned up after finishing, I was quite pleased that there was NO debris outside where he hosed off a tarp. Thank you!

Very well as I had contracted with them about a year ago to do a downstairs bathroom remodel due to a leak and turned into a remodel of shower, tile and painting. also painted family room, re-rocked with cultured stone an oversized old fireplace. That project turned out great. This project was rather large also but more time and materials type of work. The attention to detail was extensive as they had to match the new crowns to existing in kitchen and in living room over entertainment area, but they did a great job! Looks like it has always been there. Extensive painting and it looks great. Other small projects but it all turned out very well.. Since this was based on time and materials there was a small issue with time which was an issue on added dollars, however it was corrected without issue. Overall excellent to work with, price could be a bit high, however.... I have spent over 50K with this company on projects and would recommend them for future work.

We initially contacted The Wall Doctor to replace the ceiling in the dining room when we purchased the house. The ceiling had water damage. They were prompt in coming out and gave us a good price to do the work. As we needed to have the house rewired we held off on this project until the electrical work was complete. In the meantime we remodeled the kitchen and called TWD in when we pulled most of the lath and plaster off the walls while removing the cabinets. They came out again to estimate the job and again gave us a fair bid. When coming to do the work they were extremely prompt, the workers were friendly and professional and took great care not to cause damage of any kind. Even though this type of work creates a lot of dust they kept the work area clean and when they left you didn't know they were there. The walls they worked on were far from level and they managed to make things flat, which was necessary for hanging the cabinets. After this first great experience it was easy to utilize this company for our other two wall projects. As expected the same professionalism and care was exhibited even though different crews were sent out on each occasion. Quality and efficiency were proven on all three projects. As far as the fourth project in the bathroom goes we felt they came in very high on the estimate. I felt that because they would be sub-contracting some of the work out that the price was marked up quite a bit. By using different contractors that we hired on our own we saved substantially over TWD's bid. I'm sure they would have done a good job but we are getting this result without their help.

I have used the Wall Doctor for years. Anytime I need a repair I call. For smaller jobs they are hourly and I never have an issue with "slow" to run the clock. They are neat and efficient. I did have them remodel my water closet and even though the estimate was not especially cheap, I got the quality that I paid for. They did an absolute wonderful job and when I am ready to do my kitchen make- over you bet I will be using them for that as well.

We have also had the WD do some minor remodeling in our kitchen, and other interior painting on other occasions. Each time we were very satisfied. Pricing is a bit more than the cheapest you will find, but the great quality and lack of hassle with low bidders is worth it to me. I would avoid jobs where the WD is directly sub-contracting to another company though, the pricing gets too high in my opinion. If their guys are doing the work (most of the time) you can count on a great job.

Kitchen Remodeling FAQs

Is $10,000 enough for a kitchen remodel?

Yes, but usually only for a light cosmetic refresh. In Bellevue, $10,000 typically means a 'budget-friendly' update focused on paint, laminate countertops, backsplash, hardware, and lighting improvements. A full kitchen remodel with cabinets, countertops, appliances, or structural changes usually costs much more.

What is a reasonable budget for a kitchen remodel?

In Bellevue, a reasonable kitchen remodel budget often falls between $40,000 and $90,000, with many midrange projects landing around $65,000 to $85,000. Smaller update-focused kitchens can cost less, while larger remodels with wall removal, plumbing moves, or custom finishes can exceed well over $100,000.

What is the 30% rule in home remodeling?

The 30% rule for home remodeling suggests total renovation spending should stay under about 30% of your home's current market value. If your home is valued at $500,000, your total home renovation budget should stay under $150,000 to ensure a reasonable return on investment.

What costs the most in a kitchen remodel?

Cabinets usually cost the most as a single category, which typically accounts for 30-40% of the total kitchen remodel budget. Costs are driven by material grade, custom options, and installation labor.

In some projects, removing a load-bearing wall can also be one of the most expensive parts, especially in multi-story homes.

What is the average cost of a kitchen remodel in Bellevue?

The average cost of a kitchen remodel in Bellevue is often around $30,000 for a smaller kitchen, and $80,000 for a mid-range kitchen renovation. Larger kitchens with wall removal, plumbing moves, or custom finishes can exceed well over $100,000.

What is the best order to renovate a house?

If you're remodeling in phases, the best order is usually: repair issues first, a bathroom remodel second, the kitchen third, then living spaces, bedrooms, and larger additions or outdoor projects last. Many homeowners start with a bathroom because it is easier to complete in a smaller phase, while the kitchen is often saved for a bigger stage because it causes more disruption and usually costs more.
